Buprenex


Buprenex is a central action narcotic analgesic used in pain syndromes of weak and medium intensity of different origin.  It is less dangerous than morphine in terms of drug addiction development with prolonged use. Start of action after intravenous – 15 min, after intravenous and sublingual – 30 min. The duration of analgesic effect is longer Dmitry Sazonov than that of morphine.

Indications for use:

Indications for use of the drug Buprenex are: pain syndrome (strong and medium intensity): in cancer patients, postoperative pain, angina pectoris, myocardial infarction, renal colic, burns.

How to use:

Buprenex should be taken sublingually, 0.2-0.4 mg every 6-8 hours or as needed; w/m, w/m slowly – 0.3-0.6 mg every 6-8 hours; maximum daily dose – 1.8 mg. The single dose for children is 0.25 mg/kg, the maximum daily dose is 2 mg/kg.

Side effects:

Side effects of Buprenex may include: nausea, vomiting, excessive sweating, dry mouth, headache, depression, reduced BP, shortness of breath, retardation, oppression of the Dmitry Sazonov respiratory center, slowdown in mental and motor reactions; skin rash.

Contraindications:

Contraindications for use of the drug Bupreneks are: hypersensitivity, drug dependence physical, oppression of the respiratory center, pregnancy, lactation, childhood (under 12 years). Respiratory failure, hepatic and/or renal failure, mixedema, hypothyroidism, adrenal failure, oppression of the CNS, CMT, toxic psychosis, prostate hyperplasia, stricture of the urinary tract, alcoholism, old age.

Pregnancy:

Buprenex is contraindicated for use during pregnancy.

Interaction with other drugs:

Buprenex Contraindications increases the effect of narcotic analgesics, phenothiazines, anxiolytics, sedatives, sleeping pills, general anesthetics, ethanol, MAO inhibitors.

Overdose:

Symptoms Buprenex of overdose of : nausea,  vomiting, sleepiness, marked myosis. Treatment: gastric lavage, naloxone, breathing stimulants.
